Balance boards aren’t just for adults! You can help your young teen improve their balance, coordination, and their agility by introducing them to the wonders of a balance board.
The balance board can be an excellent tool for teens who are going out for sports that require leg and core strength as well as balance. The Carrom Balance board can be used to achieve all that!
In this review, we are going to talk a little more about the features of the Carrom Balance Board, but we are also going to give you an overview of what people who have purchased the balance board had to say about their overall experience with it.
Then, we’re going to give you our recommendation on whether or not this balance board is something you should consider purchasing for your own home gym!
About The Product
The Carrom Balance Board is designed to be used for people who are over 13 years old and up. Because of this age limit, it would not be wise to allow young children on the unit because they could get hurt.
With that said, this can be used for adults and teenagers who are looking to improve the strength in their legs and their core, but it is also great for those who just want to improve their balance.
Notable features of the Carrom Balance Board include:
- Cool new graphics with anti-skid strips for better control
- Great for balance and coordination
- Some assembly required
- 300 pound weight limit
- This product is not a toy It is not intended for use by children under 13 years old
The balance board is going to be the tool that will help you prepare for that skiing or snowboarding trip because it will force you to learn how to balance. The board rests on a sturdy cylinder which you then will rock from one side to the other. The real challenge is trying to stay on the board without falling off!
There is a little assembly required, but it’s incredibly simple to put together. Once the roller is together, you can then put the board on top so that you can begin using the board. The board will require you to focus so that you can keep it level, which in itself is quite a work out!
The entire product is made from a durable wood material, so we don’t recommend using the balance board on a slippery surface like a wooden floor or concrete, as it could be dangerous. Also, it is a good idea that you wear some kind of shoe, just for added comfort because the anti-skid strips on the board could be uncomfortable on bare feet.
What Others Say
When looking at what people had to say about the Carrom Balance Board , many of them had great things to say. Customers felt that this board was a challenge to master, which was something that they were looking for because they were upgrading from a simpler balance board.
Customers did point out that the board was easy to put together, as all you needed was a couple of adjustable wrenches and within 10 minutes, you could be using the board.
Several people said that it took a little bit of practice to feel comfortable using the balance board without support.
However, once they were able to get the hang of how the board worked, they were comfortable using it and had fun using it, too.
Customers felt that the product was priced appropriately, although they would have liked the roller be made of something a bit more substantial than just plywood.
With every good there will be some complaints, as customers found that the wheel of the product began chipping apart after a few weeks of use.
People were disappointed that the product was made from plywood, which was poorly constructed at that.
Some have said that this product was a “rip off” from another popular brand because the board on the Carrom was “glued, nailed, and screwed” together.
Several people commented on the durability and design choice of the wheel that the board rests on. The roller, which consists of four round pieces of plywood that would be separated by 4 square pieces of board, were held together only with an 8 inch bolt.
Over time, they experienced situations where the bolt would loosen, thus creating a potentially dangerous piece of equipment.
If you’re training for a sport like cheerleading, hockey, or even football, you’re going to need incredible core and leg strength. While you could workout at the gym or run several miles to achieve similar results, a balance board can be the low impact exercise tool that will increase your balance, agility and strengthen your legs and core.
The Carrom Balance board is an affordable balance board (under $55) that can give you the benefits that you’re looking for with very little effort. There is a bit of a learning curve, especially if you aren’t familiar with how a balance board works.
However, when you practice a little and you understand the nuances of the board, you’ll begin to see a difference in the aforementioned areas in a very short time.
The balance board does require a little bit of assembly, but when you whip out the two adjustable wrenches and get it together, it isn’t going to take you any more than 10 minutes, tops—depending on how quickly you can tighten the bolts!
We believe that if you’re looking for a new way to exercise and improve your balance that doesn’t require a costly gym membership, then a balance board like this one by Carrom is a great (and affordable!) option. Not only can you use it, but so can your children, which makes this a great tool for the entire family!
